Description

Published to coincide with the release of the Miramax Film starring Robing Williams, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Stellan Skargard, and Minnie Driver, and directed by Gus Van Sant (Drugstore Cowboy and To Die For).

Wildly charismatic. Impossibly brilliant. Totally rebellious. Those are just a few ways to describe Will Hunting. For the first twenty years of his life, he has called the shots. Now, he's about to meet his match.

Like his friends in his rough, working-class South Boston neighborhood, Will does menial jobs between stints at the local bar, and run-ins with the law. He's never been to college, except to scrub floors as a janitor at MIT. Yet he can summon obscure historical references from a photographic memory, and almost instantly solve math problems that frustrate Nobel Prize-winning professors.

The one thing this remarkably bright, angry young man can't do - after his latest bar fight - is talk his way out of a pending jail sentence. His only hope is Sean McGuire, a college professor/therapist with an admiration for his emotional struggles and a keen understanding of what it's like to fight your way through life.

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are lifelong friends from the Boston area. Damon has appeared in Courage Under Fire, and John Grisham's The Rainmaker. Affleck starred in Chasing Amy and Going All the Way. Gus Van Sant's films include Drugstore Cowboy, My Own Private Idaho, and To Die For, and he is the author of a novel, Pink.
